As in a road movie, Rainbows at Seven Eleven travels the highways of the American South West at the maximimum speed allowed by the engine of a rickety car. It is driven by a young Junior Executive escaping from a pursuit that is just beginning in his mind. His fleeting encounters with people along the way (a homeless Black woman, a policeman disguised as Clint Eastwood, a blonde in tight shorts, and an Apache dressed for war) mean the possibility of hope, salvation, or damnatio. The golden arches of McDonald's and the fatefulsum 7:11 appearon the border territory's desolate horizon like the end of one trip or the beginning of another .
The bilingual edition of Rainbows at Seven Eleven is an invitationto transpose genreborders (film script, chronicle, novella) and also the border of language.
